I used to listen to books on tape, but eventually exhausted what I found interesting at my local library.

I then delved into some of those college courses they offer on tape, like the history of Christianity, etc., but that eventually ran out of gas as well.

During those early times, I was forever experimenting with new delivery systems, like a Wal-mart cassette player in a fanny pack.

All of this eventually led me to the world of Botcasting. Except that I didn't know it was Botcasting. I didn't know it was Botcasting until I heard about Adam Curry's Podcasting. This came at a fortuitous time, because I was a bit lost in the wilderness. There I was every night, washing the dishes and devotedly listening to a combination of archived WBUR shows and robotic readings, and I was beginning to wonder whether my dream of "Radio to Go" was just a profound idiosyncracy. And then up popped the daily source code, and Podcasting.

So Podcasting allowed me to cast botcasting in a casting framework. It gave me an affinity group, a category. I was no longer just plain strange.

But there was a crucial step that remained, towards getting botcasting a place in the cast of casters. That step was to actually get people, besides myself, to listen to hours and hours of botcasts.

Stay tuned.

I also do the New York Times every day, and a handful of weblogs, like Buzz Machine, Political Animal, Talking Points Memo and Scripting News.

But I need to figure out the copyright issues before making these available. All I can say is, I'd much prefer to fire up a little Political Animal in the evening, on my iPod, to squinting at it over my laptop. But maybe that's just me.

I find that a New York Times home page, plus the Opinion section, plus a smattering of the above blogs takes care of my 1 1/4 hour commute.

But lately, I've been kinda addicted to the Daily Source Code.
