In Woodland Hills, resident Todd Rupper says the city is double taxing because property owners not only pay property taxes, but have to pay fees to the property owners association, which he says are used to fund city projects. Every property owner in the city is a member, paying up to $150 per year. He filed a lawsuit seeking to opt out of the association, despite a clause in his property's title that makes him a member as long as he owns the property.

In a town in scenic southwestern Colorado homeowners are battling over whether a Christmas wreath that includes a peace sign is an anti-Iraq war protest or even a promotion of Satan.

Why did these homeowners need the protection? In an effort to preserve property values, condominium and homeowner associations generally strictly control what residents can display outside the buildings. That often has included Old Glory.
