Builders of the luxury condominiums are challenging a city ordinance that requires its two 14-story towers to include a pressurized air system that firefighters could tap into to replenish their air supply while fighting fires.

Four condominium associations are suing the City of Brookfield in federal court, contending that the city is illegally depriving them of full municipal services.

Mukul Sinvhal was proud of the 28 solar panels atop his roof in an upscale Somerset County development, convinced he was doing right by both the environment and his pocketbook. But in December, the 40-year-old IT manager at an international bank learned not everyone is impressed by green technology. Nine months after the panels were installed, his homeowner association ordered them to be removed.
