Illinois is on track to become one of the first states to ban lead in a
wide range of consumer goods. A bill sailing through the state's
legislature would extend laws intended to prevent childhood lead
poisoning beyond products like paint to include clothing, jewelry, and

Toyota is making money hand over fist with its hybrid drive as U.S.
carmakers close factories and contemplate bankruptcy. Once again,
Toyota has taken Detroit's lunch money by thinking long term and
investing in innovation instead of fighting it, as Detroit often has.
