The Midwest Clean Diesel Initiative is a collaboration of federal,
state and local agencies, along with communities, non-profit organizations
and private companies working together to reduce emissions from
diesel engines in the Midwest.
The Initiative will do this through operational
changes, technological improvements and use of cleaner fuels. The
Initiative is supporting a multi-pronged approach to include all
fleets. However, focus will be on three key sectors: ports, agriculture-freight
and rail. MCDI also will have a focus area on the United States
and Canada border crossings.
