The National Gardening Association (NGA) supports programs across the country that actively engage kids in the garden and improve the quality of life for all. A variety of grants and awards programs are available to schools and/or community organizations with garden projects involving at least 15 kids between the ages of 3 and 18. Programs with upcoming application deadlines include: Youth Garden Grants, which provide schools and community organizations with seeds, tools, garden products, and educational resources for child-centered outdoor garden programs; and "Room to Grow" Juliana Greenhouse Grants, supporting schools and community organizations for projects that engage youngsters in a greenhouse environment. Applications for Youth Garden Grants are due by December 1, 2004 while applications for the Room to Grow Greenhouse Grants must be submitted by December 31, 2004.
