The Bay of Islands (Russell, New Zealand)
Gavin & I have just spent some time debating and we've agreed its Friday (we think!) ~I can't believe how quickly we've lost track of day, time, year, place - everything.
Russell is beautiful, a cross between how you think Parkgate should be and Cape Cod without the tourists.

We decided to stay another night here, so James and Gavin went up to the site office to book both the extra night and a cruise round the islands (with a stop on Urupukapuka Island). James has quickly made friends wih another chid on the site (he just loves being with other kids) and spent the morning running around chasing ducks.
We went for a walk down to the beach and were going to follow the footpath round the cove but it wasn't suitable for a pushchair so Gavin pressed ahead and James and I came back the easy way. I bought James a new hat on the way back:
What ~Gavin saw on his walk:

After lunch of burger/fish & chips we joined our cruise on a large catamaran (Tiger III) which took us around the bay and islands, and pointed out some pretty swanky private homes. We sailed out to Motukokako (the hole in the rock) and Gavin and I were both relieved that the Pilot decided it was too rough to go through. We stopped as planned on Urupukapuka and Gavin walked to the top while I watched James eating brownie and watching some boys play pool (he liked naming the balls)
