Glenn Fleishman over at Wi-Fi Net News has some harsh words for FON, the new Wi-Fi operation based out of Madrid that's been getting a lot of buzz recently. I have to say he makes some very good points. From our experience, Wi-Fi is all about Location, Location, Location - which is not to say that FON won't get the locations - but venues with seats are less inclined to play around with firmwares etc. Anyway, I think FON is an innovative idea and I wish them well and as far as I'm concerned - the more wi-fi hotspots and people using wi-fi, the better.

By the way, does anyone know how many FonSpots there are in Dublin/Ireland and is there a map? I picked one up in the region of grand canal street the other day, but couldn't get on. 12:17:51 AM  comment []
