Well finally home and can post here at the Test Pit. I have had the opportunity to work on some stuff that is new to Me....Historic Privies(s).  This was an amorphous blob on the truncated ground surface. A 4x1meter unit was set on it to bisect it and figure out Just what was going on....  After a good bit of digging, it was discovered that Two Privies were in the jumbled mess not just the one. Let me tell you it stunk and there was alot of modern trash in there, cause someone had dug a trench and filled it in with trash...pretty much obliterating the one wood lined privy, see below....  There is only a few centimeters of the original wood lined privy left as compared to the Brick lined privy below...  The content at the bottom was good and very interesting....as see below...  Yep those are Real brass knuckles at the base of a brick lined privy..was a very cool dicovery. All in all it has made me appreciate the Historic side of Archaeology a good bit more and put another notch in my Digging belt..... Hope to update more often soon Shovelmonkey comment [] 6:12:28 PM
