Christmas Day Toys & Pali Sings - Podcast An experiment. This Podcast was recorded on my iPod then the music was added with Audacity. Lots of fun. We try different microphones and play 'Ku'ulei Awapuhi' by Pali.

On the MacToys front My GiftsI got a Griffin iTalk for a gift as well as three Eddie Izzard DVDs. This should keep me occupied for a couple of days at least.

I've already figured out how to record a Podcast direct to the Pod using my TASCAM headset. In addition to sporting its own fairly decent microphone and not-so-decent speaker, the iTalk lets you plug in another mic, record, then play back through the built in speaker or your headphones without too much fussing around. All I need to do is swap plugs between recording and playback as if the iTalk was a little patch bay with only one hole. It's simple and sounds good. The recording is then automatically sucked up by iTunes from where I can do post production in Garage Band and Audacity. Not bad compared to the thousands of dollars worth of hardware and cables required to do this very same thing just a few years ago.

Expect to see a review and demonstration of all this in a Podcast soon.

Also, Keali`i Reichel sent the rest of his CDs so I now have all five plus one from Pali that I can't wait to play for you. We've been listening to them, some Hawaiian Christmas music on the radio, and a CD by the Seattle band "Pink Martini," which has been a hit with my wifer.

Mele Kalikimaka Ya'll! Yes, that's how you say 'Happy <#holiday_string#>' in Hawaiian.

The term 'Mele Kalikimaka' is what happens when an English word is transliterated into Hawaiian without sufficient thought or warning. For all anyone knows 'mele kalikimaka' really means: 'hit Kevin in the ear with a spoon!' But we don't know because the Hawaiians won't tell us. So far though, Kevin is just fine.
