| Dan Gilmore weighs in with his feelings on Charman Bill's remarks at CES. From Dan Gillmor on Grassroots Journalism
Truth and Bill Gates
CNet's interview with Bill Gates has any number of howlers, but a couple of them stand out. He claims, for example, that Internet Explorer is the best browser. Insulting people's intelligence is par for the course for Gates, but this one is beyond laughable.

Pay attention please - there is a new money on the block The Guardian: Frequent flyer miles soar above sterling link
The gold standard of sterling is long forgotten and now the supremacy of the greenback has been surpassed. The world has a new global currency - airline frequent flyer miles, which have a greater total value than dollars, euros, pounds or yen.
So, now that US dollars are worth fuck all, we have a new currency based on freeky flier miles. So, why then are all the airlines broke? Will 'Starbucks" be next? (I might like that one!)

Founder Follies #2: Bill Gates Calls Us All 'Communists' I'm getting real tired of Bill's stupidity and arrogance. In this latest drivel-spew he stacks anyone who disagrees with him into an imaginary pile and then makes up lies about them.
From the WIRED article: link
"No, I'd say that of the world's economies, there's more that believe in intellectual property today than ever. There are fewer communists in the world today than there were. There are some new modern-day sort of communists who want to get rid of the incentive for musicians and moviemakers and software makers under various guises. They don't think that those incentives should exist," he told News.com.
The comments show just how out-of-touch Gates is with a large and growing community of people who have embraced the ideas of open source and building on one another's creative works, proponents of copyright reform say.
At the risk of giving any credit at all to his comments, I would agree there are 'more that believe in intellectual property today than ever.' There are also more today that believe in horoscopes, creationism and the superiority of the white race. That doesn't mean they are correct or even rational. The sad thing is that because Bill Gates is so rich, some may believe that he actually has something valuable to contribute. But as the last US election has proven, bucks don't equal brains, and stupidity can prevail if it's spoken loud and often enough.
So please, spare us your sociopatholgical rants Bill. Take the spoon out of your mouth and your head out of your ass.
