Australian Brothers Take Goanna Pulling Championships!

27/03/2005. ABC News Online - The Luxton brothers from Queensland have taken the heavy and middleweight divisions of the national Goanna Pulling Championships for the third year in a row.

The event, which has been held in Wooli on the New South Wales north coast, does not actually involve goannas. Instead, two competitors lie facing each other on the ground in a push-up style position. The competitors have a leather harnesses around the back of their necks, which they use to pull their opponent across a line.

Brothers Clinton and Rhys Luxton have taken out the heavyweight and middleweight divisions for the third year in a row. They say this year's competition is among the toughest they have faced.

Tractor Driver Dies Under Load of Manure

Mon Mar 28, 2005 11:03 AM ET  PRAGUE (Reuters) - A Czech tractor driver died under eight tons of manure in a bizarre accident that has baffled his employers, local media reported.

The 34-year old man, identified only as Martin T, suffocated after the load fell on him while he was dumping it in a field near the western Czech city of Karlovy Vary, news Web Site www.novinky.cz reported Sunday. "It absolutely beats me how this could happen," said Vladimir Erps, chief of the company employing the victim.

"The truck is operated from the tractor cabin, using hydraulics. There was nothing for him to do under the truck, but it's tough to blame him now that he is dead," the news site quoted him as saying.

Man, I know exactly how that feels!
