I was interviewing a man today whose wife had died last year. She had been suffering from a mental illness which meant she was docile but uncommunicative. She needed constant care. One night she had been sick, and vomited so violently that she had sprayed herself, her bed, the walls and floor. She was taken to hospital where she stayed for 26 days. Her husband says that when she came home there were traces of vomit in her nostrils, ears, hair and under her breasts. In 26 days at hospital no-one had bothered to wash her.
