Well I'm not quite back at square one but here's the status: <1mb .mp3 files have been uploaded to the /gems/ folder and are successfully linking and being fed via RSS which means that they are showing up in ipodder and thus in my itunes directory - cool. I was not able to figure out (tonight) the uploading to another ftp site. Variables include some unknown comcast ftp protocals. I just don't really know what to put into the #upstream.xml file that goes in my folder (podcasts) that I want to have upload to my other ftp site to allow >1mb mp3 files. Also, I think that gmail might not work with the mail-to-blog feature because it requires ssl authentication. Any thoughts or help? Please feel free to point me to some other help files that I have missed or spell things out plainly. Thanks and probably goodnight. 3:48:52 AM comment [] |

The fog is beginning to clear ... >>it didn't upstream (I looked at .../0142791/gems/) - perhaps it's too large? iirc, theres a 1mb limit on user's gems folders at radio.weblogs.com >>Hi Bob. You'll need to setup a new category. Call it 'podcast' or something. Create an #upstream.xml file in there that points to your ftp server. Then drop your >1MB podcasts in that category folder.
Search this discussion board for help with #upstream.xml and ftp upload procedure. >>Bob: Marcus is right on with his writeup: UserLand's bandwidth is monitored and we are charged when it exceeds a specific amount. Allowing large file transfers would jeporadize the bandwidth for all of the users. Most ISPs give you some free webspace when you sign up--consider creating a seperate category for podcasting and upstream it to another server, like Marcus said. http://radio.userland.com/userGuide/advanced/upstreaming/howToPublishACategoryToADifferentFTPServer 1:02:54 AM comment [] |

It's a Small World Here is our first test podcast. Marty Buttwinick and I were chatting tonight and I thought it would be great to have him tell a story about what a small world we really live. Note there is no post-production on this. I have my ipod and the Belkin mic, just hit record and set it on the table. 12:38:49 AM comment [] |

Well here we are. I am currently (desparately) searching the web and the help archives in order to figure out exactly how to get my .mp3 accessible via my aggregator so that I can begin our podcasting. Your help is greatly appreciated. 12:11:56 AM comment [] |
