Pat Metheny has an incredible concept for sharing his latest composition with us. He is using Sibelius and has made the score available for preview. Once you log-in to the website you can view the score as it plays back in the free Scorch browser tool. After you analyze the score to your hearts content, you can download the 200mb quicktime file of The Way Up and watch the final score playing (6 min worth) with the studio recording of it. I am very impressed with this availability (like the Aimee Mann posted earlier) and I think that you should definitely download this and check it out! LINK

I ordered my upgrade to tiger today for $9.95 and I can't wait for it to arrive. I am most looking forward to enhanced core audio and widgets!

Making Widgets. wid.jpgMac OS X Tiger is out today, so that means we're going to see a ton of really neat widgets, if you want to get started building here's an overview...Based on Web Kit technologies, Dashboard Widgets are created using a mix of HTML, JavaScript, and CSS. This extends the ability to develop Widgets to a very wide audience. If you know how to create a web page, then you know how to create a capable Widget. Link. We'll have some examples once we make a few too. [MAKE: Blog]

Aimee Mann has a great marketing idea for her new album!  You just go to her site and listen to the whole album with the lyrics included.  What a great idea.

I just received an email from Blizzard regarding one of my characters in the MMORPG World of Warcraft. Apparently my characters name is inappropriate for gaming and I must select a new one. The current name is PadrePope and he is a Shadow wielding Priest (lvl 16) right now. Any ideas?

Transition to the Powerbook.

I just purchased the powerbook 12" as my new main-event computer.  Get ready for some changes as I try to figure out how to move the weblog and the posts over to the mac from the PC where it currently resides.

I'm glad that I have a good hard drive if nothing else.

I may be a little slow on this one, but I just installed a very cool gmail extension for firefox. Now I have an icon for gmail in my browser, with my gmail just one click away!

Today Mike and I put together his new Athlon 64 3000 ($144 retail box) system!  Since he wanted a small computer, we chose the Shuttle because it had the best price/feature point ($250). Granted it is only the nforce 3 chipset but  That plus 1 gig of corsair ($108)memory, an 80 gb SATA WD HD ($80), and his previous ATI Radeon 9600.  The weak point is of course the video card.  After an initial installation, update, and testing, his 3D Mark 05 score was 1899.  I think that we can tweak that to get closer to 2000.  Of course, when he upgrades his video card that score will jump up.  The real test is going to be how World of Warcraft plays ... we'll know tomorrow night!  Thanks Mike for letting me help you pick this system out to fit your needs and budget.

Total upgrade cost - about $650 with tax.  What a great upgrade!  I am so jealous :)
