Gizmo is a success! I loaded the program, created an account, put in my Lingo home number, pressed call and my home phone rang. Good job SIP Phone team! Now if I just had a way to know who used a VOIP phone that I could call for free .... 11:47:33 AM comment [] |

The weblog hasn't been the top-most priority for the last couple of weeks, but I hope this will bring you up to speed. I have been working for IEEE as a sysadmin. This is a temp only job but it's a nice place to work. I have an interview at CSLA for a Software Integration position. I like the idea of working at the university because of the benefits - 100% kaiser, fee-waiver (for those future classes and degrees), and a nice retirement plan. There might be another CSLA opportunity, but it's under NDA right now. I'm going to evaluate Gizmo and see if it can really call other VOIP services for free (like Lingo or Vonage). If so, that would be great for traveling. Unfortunately for Gizmo, skype has already dominated the scene and I just can't see Gizmo replacing Skype anytime in the near future. However, if they have a dedicated VOIP box (like my lingo box has) and an unlimited plan, I might reconsider Gizmo over my Lingo service. This would mean that I could make my unlimited calls from home (like I do now) and make unlimited calls when traveling (currently I use my cell phone and last month went WAY over minutes). I can't seem to get the ThemeTool to work on the Mac yet, but I'm really excited about 1) it's free and 2) I'll be able to use GoLive (a recent addition) to make this page sparkle :) On another front, I can't wait for next week! Laurie and I are heading up to SF for the Marathon! I am looking forward to running across the Golden Gate! note - podcast dl status is way over 700, a new show will be out today or tomorrow! 11:40:25 AM comment [] |
