Today I discovered Google Talk. You've seen I'm sure. It's certainly all over the web now. Download it and check it out. IM me: jcantus@gmail.com

My initial impression is, "Where's the beef?" I don't think I can conference call yet. I can't IM msn, yahoo, or aol friends, and I can't file transfer. I do like the email-to friends and I really like the fact that I can use ichat ,or other open clients,(since I'm on a mac at home) to contact my buddies (when they appear on gT). That is a very nice functionality. Now to clinch the deal I need to be able to replace the skype, msn, aol, and yahoo clients as well as have more than five people in a conference.

Now who's to say we shouldn't be able to use gT's commitment to open standards to call other SIP phones like project gizmo does? That would be a nice addition. By this time next year most computer users should have some kind of SIP contact number.

Overall, lot's of potential but not yet there. It's clean google but I need a little more wow to convince my friends to switch!

I have a 2004 Honda Element and it's just a great vehicle. According to Nathan Tharp (you can find him on the Podsafe Music Network) the Honda Element is good for voice recording and sent me a recording tip to pass along:

"Set up absorption on 2 of the 4 walls. I use heavy shipping blankets 2-3" from walls. Carpet on floor. Crack a window to relieve low frequency build-up if is too great."

In further news The Lascivious Biddies have granted me permission to play their music on the show so I'll probably have something on the next episode.

Janet Cole Valdez is going to send me some new mixes from her musical Emerald Man! I can't wait to share that with you all.
