Itunes 5.0 Just Works Better! Yesterday Apple announced the much anticipated Itunes phone (ROKR) with Motorola, the Ipod Nano, the demise of the Mini, and Itunes 5.0. Well I don't use cingular and I have a 40 gb ipod already so only the Itunes update was important to me now. Here's my take: Bad: All my podcast subscriptions were lost when I upgraded. It took about an hour to resub to everything. Good: Playlists can go into folders now (why did this take so long again?) Good: Looks nice! I especially like the graduated gray scale behind the diamond on the track timeline. Good: Smart playlists now work with podcasts! The lack of this feature was going to send me away from itunes as a podcatcher and back to ipodder lemon (or even buying ipodder x) Hopefully there will be some good news about the Motorola ROKR and that it will release with T-Mobile soon like the RAZR did (even though I don't have one) because I would probably buy one just for the cool factor.
