File this under "wtf mate?". NYC plans to permit people to change the gender on their birthcertificate regardless of their anatomy. Huh? Isn't it anatomy that defines whether we are male or female? Perhaps the notion of personal tendencies should be taken up by adding a second category. We could have Gender and Gender Preference. If you have a vagina but like to dress tough you could choose "female/male". We could even change the Gender Preference to not reflect anatomy but to reflect whether you like to pick flowers or play wargames. I'm not sure how though ... link
