The way we name things in nature makes us model our design and manufacturing processes in a way that presupposes that reality is actually a bunch of interchangeable subcomponents. Just because there is a label for something does not mean that it's really a separate subcomponent. Today I attempt to explain the difference between subcomponents and labeled parts of a continuum.
