EUROPE'S TWO CULTURE WARS:  One, carried out by secular zealots, seeks to abolish the words "father" and "mother" in birth certificates, while offering human rights to great apes.  This is a war waged by people obsessed with eradicating their own past.

The other is waged by a small but relentless group of Muslim fanatics who wish to impose Middle Eastern standards of morality on a population they judge to be faithless and cowardly.  These people fight for the long future.

Who's likely to win?  Read George Weigel's tale of two culture wars in Commentary, and find out.
