Berlind's Media Transparency Channel
If you're looking for my podcasts, please read What to do if you're looking for my series of podcasts on IT Matters. Otherwise, read on.

This blog is now a part of my experiment in media transparency. The premise is that if the media can broadcast polished edited content through one channel like ZDNet, then why can't it also broadcast a parallel channel that's full of the raw materials (thus, this "channel"). For a much more detailed explanation, be sure to check out the following:In case you're interested, maintaining a simplistic transparency channel like this one has so far involved a significant amount of heavy lifting. The core technology may exist, but it's my opinion that a decent UI for publishing a transparency channel does not. So, one outgrowth of this experiment might be a complete specification for such a system -- Something I call JOTS.

is this the quotable response?  I have to cover it.  My take.. let the
user decide with the mouse button how long to depress the key for.
Please recall that the last time I had this problem, I thought it was
because I was on my company's VPN (since, when I disconnected from the
VPN, it worked).  The more gateways and firewalls the tone must go
through, perhaps the harder it is for those tones to register (which is
why longer is better).

thanks.

David --

the engineering team is aware of the issue and working to resolve it.
The theory is the tones are too short for some systems as they are set
to a standard of 100 ms which may be too short for some commercial
systems.

thank you for pointing this out!  I'll try to let you know when it's
resolved ~ Best - kelly

Hi David  --

i called and got "that access code isn't recognized"   it didn't play
back
the numbers but i did it a few times ?? ~

Re the call, that's a bummer!  if everyone's on a good connection i've
not experienced a problem with the internet as a whole -- but one bad
connection or windy wifi can ruin the quality ~

happy day

try getting into this conference with Skype. I left it open for the day.
I could not get into it earlier with Skype.

1) Dial   TELEPHONE # REDACTED
2) access code ACCESS CODE REDATED

Also, I did a Skypecast today and the audio quality was awful.  Tons of
drop outs.  Right in the heart of the day though (12-2 EST) so I'm
guessing that was a bad time to count on good access to bandwidth and
audio quality.
