David
Gilmour, Richard Wright and Jon CarinI went to see David Gilmour and band play at the Royal Albert Hall on Wednesday. It was a fantastic show with a fascinating mix of old and new songs. The first half of the show opened with parts of Dark Side of the Moon and then continued with the new album "On an Island" in its entirety. The second half of the show was a tour through Pink Floyd's back catalogue and included very old, Syd Barret songs (Arnold Layne, Dominoes), Fat Old Sun (one of my favourite Pink Floyd songs), Echoes (another of my favourites) and many others.

Nick Mason, Pink Floyd's drummer, joined the band for the encores. Richard Wright is part of the touring band and played on the new album meaning that only Waters was missing out of the classic Floyd lineup of Gilmour, Mason, Wright and Waters. David's guitar playing was consitantly great and Wright's contribution to the performance was exceptional. His vocals on Arnold Layne really captured the spirit of the song and the interplay between David and Richard in Echoes, particularly during the final bars, was exquisite.
