Old School Hip Hop Mix (Dec. 21st, 2005) Sup everyone... I've now posted my latest Old School Hip Hop Mix for you all. I had mentioned that I would post a "special" all one artist house music mix also, but I wanted to let you all know that the next mix (which I expect before the new year) will actually be inspired from a thread from DTourism about the best house tracks of 2005. The music on the current Old School Hip Hop mix, however, is primarily comprised of cuts from the mid-1980's to early 1990's.   Last time I posted my Old School Hip Hop Mix, I received some comments from a few who had raised questions about my labeling it an 'Old School' mix, since some consider 'Old School' rap to be only from pre-1986. My response was, and still is, that while the term 'Old School' will probably always be subjective, I consider 'Old School' to constitute rap that came out before it reached the level of commercialism it has today.  This, of course, started off in the mid-90's with Dr. Dre's 'The Chronic,' (a dope album, btw) but reached its real heights post-1997 during the rise of Puffy's label Bad Boy, where you saw several of the artists that I have played in these mixes, who were on top of the rap world, gradually get dropped off of major record labels, and out of sight and mind to longtime fans and the increasing numbers of rap buying public.
