Indelible Beats Vol. 16 (January 21, 2007) This is similar to a set I played at my bi-weekly party, (obviously titled, Indelible Beats) at Sip last Saturday. Re-Post of Overwritten Posts... Well, it appears that I have managed to overwrite past posts of podcasts since May 2006 since I did not set up a proper backup with my old computer crashing. Fortunately, in terms of losing actual posts to this radio weblog, there have not been too many lost. As a result of my old computer crashing and the problems I have with Radio Userland I postponed the posting of a Best in House Mix (Part 1) I recorded at the end of 2006, and an Indelible Beats I was to post yesterday. The good news is the resultis that both mixes should be posted here within the next 24 hours. Anyway, here are the old posts to the mixes that are no longer listed on this radio weblog:   Butterface & President Ike - Mescela Per Il Claudia (November, 2006) Been over a month since I posted a new mix, which mostly has to do with the lack of time from working on a new Masters degree. However, I've been working with this great cat, DJ Butterface, and a few weeks ago we recorded a tag team set together in his studio, to prepare for our upcoming tag team performance this Friday Nov. 10 @ Cafe Deville here in NYC. This mix is of Breaks and House that we made while in the company of this fantastic vocalist from Italy (Sardinia) whose name is Claudia; hence the title for this mix. Hope you all enjoy it and look out for new mixes soon, including my Best of House mix for this year which should come in December. Peace, Ike Download Miscela Per Il Claudia in mp3 I don't have a legit playlist for the mix but it does include cuts from, LCD Soundsystem, Switch, Solid Groove & Sinden, DJ Icey, Ellen Allien & Apparat, Skream, Dave Preston & Habersham House Mix (September, 2006) I recorded this mix a few weeks ago, right around the same time as the Golden Age mix, was going to wait a week, but didn't get the chance to put it up. Mostly because I started a new gig here in NYC at Sip but also due to some procrastination, I suppose. I wanted to throw a few other tracks in there which I am digging and feel would have worked well in the mix, plus I had a hard time deciding which mix of Satoshi Tomiie's new song to drop since I am digging that record so much. I expect it to be in the next mix or maybe in this year's Best of House at the end of the year. We'll see how that goes. Some may also notice the song, by Lasoul, is quite old but I thought it fit, even though it is a bit of a non-typical track compared to the rest of the mix . I hope you have just a bit of patience as the mix is really meant to develop the listener's excitement level over the duration (I hope), and then drop down a notch at the end. That being said, this mix is a but unusual in that I played almost entirely around 125 bpm, when I am more of someone who likes to play and dance to house music at 127-128 bpm (with a few exceptions). I think it provides a bit more of a head nodding experience for those not so dance inclined, but still fast enough to groove to. Anyway, hope everyone enjoys it... I apologize before you listen to this podcast for a few record skips that sadly took place on a few tracks. Part of that may be related to my setup since I am currently missing a screw meant to attach the cartridge to the headshell on on turntable, making it a bit less stable. Regardless, I hope everyone enjoys the mix as much as I had creating it. I tried to put together a blend of well known tracks of that era, plus a few gems that may have fallen below the radar. Technically, Da Youngsta's, 'Mad Props', and Lords of the Underground's, 'Neva Faded,' off of their sophomore album were released in 1994, a year after the "Golden Age" but the sound of both songs is definitive of that era. In fact, both songs were produced by two of the the most talented and influential, who also worked closely together for years, Marley Marl and K-Def. In fact, this podcast is HIGHLY influenced by and peppered with the dirty, raw sound that made Marley Marl the legend that he is in Hip-Hop.
