Show #25: The Northwest Rebellion: Batoche Soundseeing Tour
This show features a soundseeing tour of the National Historic Site of Batoche, site of the last battle of the Northwest Rebellion in 1885. It focuses on the intertwining stories of Gabriel Dumont and Louis Riel and the Metis people of this part of the country.
Some of the material in the podcast is from the AV presentation in the park's interpretive centre and some is me narrating as I move through the park. The closing song in this piece is Sacrifice from Robbie Robertson's album "Contact from the Underworld of RedBoy". The song tells the story of Leonard Peltier, an Aboriginal political prisoner currently held in a U.S. prison following an altercation in the 1970's. The album is available from the iTunes Music Store. This is a great album by one of Canada's most talented songwriters, formerly the band leader of The Band.

Thanks for listening, and drop me a line with any comments or suggestions. Note that I've switched to a gmail account for podcasting comments. It's a different interface, but adds the powerful search features of Google for email management.
