The global poultry farming industry appears to be the primary cause of H5N1 avian influenza - and NOT wild birds - says a new report from GRAIN, a nonprofit devoted to sustainable development. As evidence, it demonstrates how the virus is spread not by migratory birds and their flight patterns but via shipments of domestic poultry - their eggs, chicks, meat, feathers, manure, feed and byproducts - between factory farms.
