Prince Bandar’s Scandal Lobbyist. No one in the Beltway was surprised last December that Saudi Prince Bandar bin Sultan hired Qorvis Communications to help him and British author William Simpson promote his new biography, “The Prince: The Secret History of the World’s Most Intriguing Royal.”
After all, Qorvis has been paid over $17 million by the Saudi government since 9/11 to help promote the desert kingdom.
But what’s intriguing about Bandar’s contract, in light of the growing scandal over $2 billion in secret payments he allegedly received from British defense contractor BAE, is that Wafic Said is also listed as a client on the registration statement filed by Qorvis.
Said, a Syrian financier, is the middleman at the heart of the BAE scandal, who helped broker the deal for Prince Bandar through Said’s Swiss bank accounts.
So, is Qorvis helping spin the scandal for Prince Bandar in the halls of Washington, helping fend off any inquiries (by the Justice Department) on this side of the pond?
Here’s the registration statement filed by Qorvis: 5483-Exhibit-AB-20061201-5.pdf
