Fernandes Takes First-Round Lead in Louisiana FUTURES Classic
LAFAYETTE, La., April 7, 2006 -- The Texas swing of the Duramed FUTURES Tour is two weeks away and already, blustery conditions are giving players a taste of rounds to come at the $75,000 Louisiana FUTURES Classic presented by Cox. But Lisa Fernandes, leaning on six years of professional experience and a cooperative putter, fired a three-under-par score of 69 to grab the event's first-round lead.
"I played in the pro-am on Thursday in the same kind of wind and I knew how windy it could be and how tough this course could play," said Fernandes, 28, of Jacksonville, Fla. "I just happened to make a few bombs out there today." Results and Pairings>>
