It's okay with me if creationists want to believe that God created the earth 6,000 years ago and that the Grand Canyon was dug out as a consequence of Noah's flood. Really, it is.
I just don't want them using the National Park System as a pulpit to preach this message.
I have not previously said explicitly in this blog that I think the current administration is doing everything in its power to break down the wall between church and state. No, to crush every bit of the barrier into smithereens.
But. Bronze plaques with psalm verses at Grand Canyon overlooks? Having the NPS block publication of guidance for park rangers reminding them that there is no scientific basis for creationism? We're not even talking intelligent design here, folks, we're talking about something that the court system has already ruled on and thrown out of science classrooms.
I weep for the future of this nation. Handmaid's Tale, can you be far off?
