We all have junk we throw in the closet or in the garage. We don't need it now, we are most likely going to leave it there until the space gets overflowing, then we haul it away. With the PMUG swap meet coming up shortly, this is be the time to dig it out and make a buck or two selling it to someone who wants it. August 4th is the day. Check out the back cover of Mouse Tracks for time and place or go to the PMUG web site at www.pmug.org. I know Iâo[dot accent]ll have my table there with lots of interesting stuff. Costs for a table are $25. Please spread the word to all your friends. This is our one swap meet for this year.
Here's a clue for people who will come to the swap meet to find used stuff for use with their system. Those black glossy bags that have electronic parts and RAM in them are for static protection. If you are really interested in keeping the product working, do not handle those parts without a static strap to ground yourself and protect the part. I have gotten my fair share of glares telling people not to handle the RAM and PCI cards. You can't see the damage happening but oil and salt from your hands, as well as static, can work on parts for years after being touched; breaking them down and causing them to fail. Ask the seller what the item is and if it will be of any use in your computer. Be sure and get a card from the vendor if there is any implication of a warranty. PMUG does not check the vendors and has no idea where they live or what their telephone number is so it's up to you to write this stuff down.
