The Healthy Carnivore is a natural meats e-tailer taking on the local butcher and mail order companies such as Omaha Steaks in an effort to change the way consumers think about and purchase meat.
At the same time, the new company offers a classic case study of what is possible on the Internet for smaller companies.
In the case of The Healthy Carnivore, a local web designer teamed with a 27-year-old meat-packing and distribution company to take on both other e-tailers as well as the local butcher.
The company believes its premium, all-natural, artisan-cut meats, including beef, chicken, pork and lamb, can generate enough business to sustain an ongoing web operation.
