Where is America going?

The City Council in Hazelton, PA has apparently signed into law fines and penalties for illegal immigrants.  I think it is about time someone attempted to take control of this situation!  It seems to me that if our federal level of law makers are afraid to make a stand that at least the state level could start.  Understanding that the state level is seemingly worried about their political futures as well, at least the local level government somewhere is taking courage and attempting to right the obvious wrongs!

I understand that for many people, from many places, and for many reasons unique to their own, have found themselves being an illegal immigrant.  Hard luck comes to many.  I am truely sorry for your situation.  But, get over it and GET LEGAL or GET OUT!!

ILLEGAL is ILLEGAL !!!!

You are a criminal!  Anyone by definition who is engaging in an illegal act is a CRIMINAL.  That would include YOU!

If you want to become a LEGAL citizen there are rules and guidelines to follow.  Do it and then come back.  Until then...

YOU HAVE NO RIGHTS AS A CITIZEN HERE!

WE DO NOT WANT YOU!!!  YOU ARE A BURDEN TO OUR SOCIETY!  AS AN AMERICAN CITIZEN...I do not want to support you.  I do not want to take care of you.  I do not want to put up with your gangs, theives, graffity artists and leaches!

You have a country you came from.  Put your energy into changing the society you came from and not mine!

If you truely want to live here then follow the RULES!

You tell me WHY I should trust you to live and contribute to my society when you cannot or will not follow the FIRST guideline to come here LEGALLY!

Right up front you are being untrustworthy, you are proving that you cannot be trusted.  And you get mad!

What do they say about the guilty???   They are the first to draw attention away from the act or deed and try to focus on something different.  Does the shoe fit?  I say it DOES!

GET OUT OR GET LEGAL!   Hurray for PA!  Good move and a pat on the back from me.  If you feel the same way feel free to say so!  I am!

I am finding myself more and more frustrated!  I was once again cancelled!  Time on my hands.  I guess "I can see it coming at 100 miles an hour" as the cliche goes.

I most definitely agree that we are GIVING our country away!  How can we stop this madness?

Who is going to stand up and take the bullet?

We are giving our rights away.  I almost dare say that we have GIVEN up our rights already.

We need to take it back.

The comments are wonderful and very heart felt!  I think perhaps by saying it out loud we begin to STRENGHTHEN ourselves and our ability to VOICE our concerns.  We need to get the BALL ROLLING in a good direction.  Supposedly we are the MAJORITY.  Granted a Majority Without Rights as it now stands.  But if we are STRONG in numbers, maybe we can become a MAJORITY With Rights!  What a concept!!!  Keep making comments, keep making suggestions.  And most of all

KEEP PASSING IT ON!!!!!

I decided to contact an attorney locally.  I was actually surprised to hear that I did NOT have my civil rights violated.  Because I live in a Right to Work state, employers have a lot of latitude with their employees.  From what I could gather, the person whom took offense to my book (according to my understanding  from this law office) was closer to having HER civil rights violated than I did.  So my OPINION violated her civil rights.  Her keeping me from WORKING in the ER over my OPINION did not violate my civil rights at all.

The logical question would be... and WHY is that???

Answer proposed....  because I am NOT presumed to be a minority!

 WHAT THE ***k  IS THIS?

WHY I AM LESS ENTITLED THAN HER?

WHY AM I NOT ALLOWED HAVE A VOICE?

WHY AM I NOT ALLOWED TO  HAVE OPINIONS?

ONCE AGAIN,  ISN'T THIS A PROBLEM?

So let me get this straight...

Me and my family (documented on both sides and federally recognized) have been in this country since 1500's have fewer rights than someone who crosses the border illegally yesterday.

If you think I am in tough shape... what about you European decents who have only been here 100 years or less?

Look out!  You won't have a job either!

I want to SCREAM!

What can we do about this?

We need to figure out how to protect our interest.

We need to draw attention to how out of balance this situation is.

Has something like this happened to anyone else?  or as agrivating?

Pass this site on to everyone you know... perhaps someone has some suggestions.

Comments and suggestions needed and welcome!

It appears that the irritation about the You Are In America, Speak English book is continuing.  I find it difficult to believe the Emergency Room Department is choosing to continually work short.  All over an opinion.  It remains somewhat concerning that certain people in "power" opt to flex their perverbial muscle over something as trivial as this.  And, that it is supported by the "higher-ups".  Even though this DNR (Do Not Return) was not officially documented, it still is siliently honored, by allowing them to work short when there is staff available.

I have recently been cancelled at about a 25% rate only to learn that the ER remains short on those dates.  Where is America going?  Short of legal action, I am finding this battle to be an up hill march.  I want to make a statement about the injustice of it all, but wish to remain employable.  I still need to work, damn it!

What my secret desires are.... is to put this book in every break room!  Every waiting room!  EVERYWHERE!  If it is going to cost me my profession, I may as well as REALLY give them cause to be Pissed Off, don't you think?  Hell, can anyone transcribe it into Spanish for me?

Thank you to everyone who has commented!  I really appreciate it.  It gives me energy.  I have my waining moments.  I sometimes get intimidated by the thought of not being able to work.  Although, I think that in a round about way I am still being punished for my opinions.  I cannot let them win!  I cannot let them win!  Just for extra energy, I have to say it....

You Are In America, SPEAK ENGLISH!

Just today, I found out that this SAME  Emergency Department has been working short (more than just one or two nurses).  Part of me thinks that this can be poetic justice.  But then the other part of me thinks that (knowing that there is a need and I was actually "cancelled" because I am unofficially barred from the department) they are denying me the right to work for political reasons.

I was told nothing was written down officially.  However, I still am not allowed in the department as long as the manager and the OFFENDED person is working.  They are cutting into my livelyhood.  My ability to continue working is impaired by someone not sharing my opinion.  They are essentially holding my paycheck hostage.

NOW THIS OUGHT TO PISS YOU OFF......  As a Native American (blue card carrying)  "I have my blue card..... Do you have your GREEN CARD?   If you do,  my hat is off to you.  Welcome to my country!  Happy to have you here and share the wealth.  And thank you for speaking (reading) English.

If you DO NOT have your GREEN CARD, then go home (where ever you come from), find out how to apply for one.  While you are waiting it would be a good time to take a few ENGLISH classes and learn the language, since you will be needing it once you are LEGAL!

How can one person (or two if the manager is counted) bar me from hours of work because they don't like my OPINION.

WHAT HAPPENED TO THE FIRST AMMENDMENT HERE?

WHAT HAPPENED TO THE RIGHT TO FREE SPEECH?

WHAT HAPPENED TO THE FREEDOM OF THE PRESS?

You need to read the description on this book.  You know, the one that can keep you from nursing.  Yes, nursing.....(tongue in cheek) Like we have too many nurses anyway!

I wrote a book named You Are In America, SPEAK ENGLISH!   It is just now on the market.  The story I am about to tell you is UNBELIEVABLE.

I work as a nurse (LPN) at a local hospital thru a registry, which means I go where ever they need me and can use my skills.  One of the people I work with asked me to bring her a copy of the book to purchase.  So I did. I put it into my pocket as to not forget.

I was assigned to work in the Emergency Room Department.  I was sitting behind the desk and put the book on the counter top (face up) in view of the nurse beside me and began to look for a pen in my pockets.  The nurse sitting next to me asked if it was me who wrote it and I replied yes.  After about a minute of her thumbing thru the book, she stood up and said "You have some nerve!  The Native Americans (and stated that she was Native American) were here before ANY of YOU were here, so you should not have anything to say about it."
My response was,  "Well actually, I know exactly what you mean, because  I am a CARD CARRYING NATIVE AMERICAN, myself."  and she walked off.

A few minutes later, I was told that I needed to report to the staffing office to see if they could use me on another floor in 45 minutes.  So I did.  They placed me in the NICU for the rest of the day.  Shortly after arriving in the NICU the staffing office called me to tell me that the ER department had me leave their floor because of my book.  In fact the ER manager was requesting that I NEVER return to the ER or the entire Hospital System (which includes 4 other hospitals in town) and was pushing to have my record posted DRN (DO NOT RETURN).

As I spoke to the staffing reps, my understanding is that it was because this one particular nurse is Hispanic and took personal offense to the book.

Were are my rights to freedom of expression?  If discrimination was ever an issue, it should be me.  The book is paying tribute to the multi-cultural nature of our country and a common language.  She was simply assuming that it was something else.  How can one person try to destroy another's right to work in a community?  She could easily have my nursing career squashed in this community over a title of a book that I happened to write.  How can a minority of any descent have the right over another person (minority or not)?

I happen to be blond, blue eyed and fair skinned.  I have Cherokee, Seneca, and Shawnee heritage (documented).  Talk about  "DON'T JUDGE A BOOK BY IT'S COVER"!

Doesn't this warrant some kind of attention?  Having me removed and DNR' d from the floor
violate my civil rights and freedom of speech over an opinion?  If ACLU was approached on this issue,  would they have a difficult choice on which side to stand, one minority (Hispanic-popular)or the other minority (Native American-unpopular)?  Which way do you think they would lean?

I worry about creating too much of a wave, because I personally am a single income family and the bread winner.  I cannot afford to be blackballed out of the nursing community.  I have a disabled husband.  I am angry.

Where do you stand?
