This is my initial review of the Akimbo set top box for downloading video from the internet and viewing it on your TV. Here are my initial thoughts.
  • It's easy to install. I hooked up and had the box connected to the internet within minutes of unpacking it. Even with my home wireless network encrypted.
  • It did take 3 hours from there before I could watch TV since the box had to update the software before downloading content.
  • Interesting Content, most of the content is material that you couldn't find on most cable systems. There are currently over 13000 shows availible online.
  • You can select programming from the box's menu, or from the internet and it will download to your box.
  • You cannot view a program until it has finished downloading.
  • There is a lot of programming that costs extra to view, maybe we can talk them out of this in the future.
  • They currnetly have Rocketboom, and Command N. Where are the programs from revision 3. Kevin Rose, let's get systm, and the broken on Akimbo.
That was my intial take. I will talk about it more in the future.
