I loathe surprises. It's not in my nature to expect the unexpected. The world doesn't work that way. Cause and effect. If it dosen't fit, you must auterois acquit it. For ten years Larry Harnish of the Los Angeles Times has been the last word on the 1947 Elizabeth Short murder, much like my pal Gene Lyons is the go to guy on the Clinton's and the vast right-wing idiot conspiracy currently driving the country to ruin over Iraq.
I am second to none in praise of the work Larry did and the amazing facts he uncovered. All of it with little or no help from the LAPD. He was able, through dogged research to establish the only link to the Short family and the Dumpsite on South Norton. A sixty-two year old surgeon; Dr. Walter A. Bayley he believes, killed and dismembered Beth Short in a failed tryst and as result of his advancing Alzhiemer's Disease. He then dumped the nude body in a vacant a block from his own house as an apparent votive to his wife, who was living at 3959 S. Norton.
I don't know about that. It all seems rather concocted from there. The usual Sunday feature magazine stuff for the Tribunesse's taste. The L.A. Times has succumbed to all the blather and smoosh, and still retains a coquettish and puritanical attitude, in the bad, hypocritical sense when it comes to sex and more specifically; sex crimes. Larry himself brags that the Black Dahlia murder never made the front page of the Times. His site is full of stupid shit and posturing about those ugly old crime scene photos, even offering to rat out any high school students who come to him looking for the offensive scrapes by reporting them to their teachers.
