Nixon's the one

News is filtering east with the prevailing winds that California has it's crucify the cripple apparatus back up and running. Al Gore's broken son is the latest chosen one to bring an end to the rift between the fascist ghouls in government and the body snatchers in the media. 100 m.p.h. The Horror. Patty Hearst to testify and tout Tanya's Symbioic Tanning System...Just out of the closet? Solitary confinement? Try Tanya's. And an earthquake.

The Black Dahlia knows they grow some vicious bastards in Southern Cal. She regarded most of them cooly, she could handle all but one of them. Maybe there's some inital high hopes. They come on smooth and tanned these beach boys, but that water is cold from the California current which flows south from San Francisco stealing the warmth from their hearts. She took his money, that say's alot.  She preffered military officers.

The high tide of American expansion in the Pacific had turned by January, 1947. The great ebbing slowly turned east again, and the driftwood piled up on the sunny beaches of California, and flooded the streets of the old city waist deep in war's human refuse, soldiers, workers, the disabled, the unemployed, addled and addicted, students, and the beaten in the larger sacrifice, but it didn't stop there.

The powerful wave broke over the Rockies and out onto the Great Plains and from there it swept into power in 1968 the Asia-Hand himself, America's Cruelest & Craziest WWII, Vet. Whittier's own Richard "Tricky Dick" Nixon. Spy catcher and the states notorious five o'clock shadow.

Himself, a young, insane war hero about town, could Nixon's ascendancy have caused the death of Elizabeth Short? We'll probably never know, but I'd sure like to see the missing pages from her address book.

Nixon went on to set the tone for the abandonment of the sort of condesention of the poor, sick, and overburdened as the cause of the failure of American arms to achieve the peace he so desired, and demonstrated with his heavy drinking, proscription lists, and petty criminality. But it was his Shaker backround that really sharpened his taste for the blood of the less fortunate. His father had built the house he was born in, get a job, you pinko bums.

Beth Short was from Massachusetts, just like Kitty Dukakis. The horror of Chappaquidick and Mary Jo Kopchne and that fat drunken Ted Kennedy. Probably a New Deal style liberal, sure. That's all it takes today. Speak out of turn and wham, you're an enemy of the state. A parasite, an ant against a machete. A commie, shut up! A split of the difference. The great divider had devised a southern strategy wherein everthing goes south with the political discourse.
