Don Park's take on Echo's future

Don thinks it's a good idea for all those programmers who had no outlet for their creativity to be able to express themselves in RSS-like XML. He supports it for that reason. This doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me, but Don is entitled to his opinion.

My opinion is that he's bending over backwards to appear reasonable. Blogger really doesn't want to work with Movable Type and IBM thinks they can obfuscate the whole mess they hope to create so they can charge their customers hundreds of thousands of dollars a year to sort it out for them.

For these guys RSS is too damned simple, they can't massage it to be confusing to the rest of us. Don knows that this is the way BigCo's work. To them RSS is a way to make lots of money by confusing people.
