I'm doing somewhat better on the fatigue front today. I'm still very tired, but unlike yesterday, I can function. Definitely an appreciated improvement.

I have sort of an unhappy suspicion as to the cause of this flare. I started roller skiing again last week. Not a lot - maybe 35 minutes to 45 minutes a day. However, my heart rate does get up there - around 160-175 bpm. Which, to you knowledgeable sorts is ridiculously high. This is nothing new - I've always had a high heart rate when working out - which may result from my orthostatic hypotension and is futher excerbated by Impramine.

Anyhoo, studies are beginning to show that one potential causal link to CFS is a malfunctioning circulatory system and that moderate to intense exercise can lead to a flare. sigh...

I don't want this to be me. Being fit used to be a huge part of who I was. Over the past few years, I've been able to readjust my expectations of what I can do. I am no longer capable of ski racing, bike racing, etc. But I would like to be strong enough to go hiking or ride my recumbent bike.

I definitely need to check in with Dr. Bateman. Hopefully, I can get to Salt Lake in the next few months. And in the meantime, I'll start drinking V8 juice again in an attempt to get my blood pressure up.
