"Conversation. What is it? A Mystery! It's the art of never seeming bored, of touching everything with interest, of pleasing with trifles, of being fascinating with nothing at all. How do we define this lively darting about with words, of hitting them back and forth, this sort of brief smile of ideas which should be conversation?" Guy de Maupassant

Radio Rant

I've been away for almost a week .... back to blogging today !  I spent all afternoon trying to figure out a few things for my blog .... and this is really annoying.  Among other things, here are a few really basic problems i'm having ...

a.  How to get my categories pages to reflect my blog name too .. i have posted this problem on the Radio Userland discussion board thrice ... got one response ... followed the instructions ... but no change reflected at my blog.

b.  The error i may have made in some template or the other ... its not visible to me ... the problem is for the last few days i've been noticing that while my home page (public) on the blog opens just fine .. the taskbar (the one that gets minimised) doesnot show my blog name ... it shows this instead ... "macro error : can't compile this script because of a syntax error".  Posted this on the message board too for help.

c. My blogroll is not updating ... neither am i able to see recently updated blogs moving up the order - a problem with Radio or Blogrolling.com ... i'm not sure really

I have many other issues with Radio ... i want trackbacks (i know they're working on it), i want a side-bar which allows recent comments to show up, i want to be able to blog while i'm away from my desktop without having to keep my desktop running, i want to be able to get my newsfeeds by email while i'm away (i get them only if i leave my desktop running .. and thats not possible to do in India, when away for more than 24 hours due to electricity fluctuations and power-cuts).

Most of all, i want a user-friendly manual and trouble shooting guide ... specifically crafted for people who donot understand html or xml codes.

I know the guys at Radio are working really hard ... but please think of your customers as 'dummies' that need simple tools, one-click options and a lot of hand-holding through easy-to-read and easy-to-follow instructions and manuals.

Reminds me of something i once read, with no offense meant to the team at Radio ...

"Any darn fool can make something complex; it takes a genius to make something simple."
