So, now to the task at hand. What should I talk about on Saturday?

Well, I have to talk about the Internet and Windows XP. I'm going to give folks the first sneak preview of Radio UserLand 7.1. That should be fun.

I hope to be on CNET Radio Friday night. I'll find out about that soon. You can listen on the Web too, but I don't have the URL in front of me. Just visit http://www.cnet.com and search for "CNET Radio" and you'll find it. I think I'll cover these things about Windows XP.

Radio'ing at 26,000 feet

I'm writing this weblog at 25,000 feet in a United Airlines Boeing 727 going from San Jose to Denver, and ultimately to the Gnomedex Conference in Iowa -- I'm speaking there about Windows XP and Internet stuff on Saturday.

I can't believe it's been a month since you know what.

Anyway, Radio UserLand will automatically send my words to my weblog when I reconnect, so if you are reading this stuff, I've arrived safely. If not, you won't know.

I'm sitting next to a United Flight attendant. It's her last flight. She just got laid off. Wow. That sucks. She's very angry at United for taking the government's money and not working to save employee jobs. I understand her rage.

I asked her how things have changed in the air over the past few weeks and she answered: "People are more friendly, more obedient."

Funny enough the plane is packed. The airport was packed. More packed than I've ever seen it -- so much for the predictions that people won't fly again. Course there were long lines to get through security. I highly recommend getting to the airport three hours before your flight takes off (for domestic flights -- international flights probably need another hour). That made things comfortable. You probably could push it to 1.5 hours and still get through, but why try to save an hour and get stressed out.

Turns out my flight left an hour late anyway, but I couldn't have known that.

Microsoft expands Windows XP messaging. Starting Oct. 25--the day the operating system will be available boxed in stores--the company plans to release an upgrade to Windows Messenger in the first major update of the OS. [CNET News.com: Enterprise]
