Jon Udell: "It worries me to see this kind of systematic erosion of end-to-end connectivity. Of course you ought not run unencrypted Exchange traffic over the open Internet in the first place, so maybe we shouldn't mourn the loss of that capability. But I hate to see the vulnerabilities of Windows' RPC implementation tar other uses of RPC."

11:10:30 AM Even though Outlook XP has built-in Bayesian filtering, I decided to buy a copy of Norton AntiSpam 2004 ($30 USD after rebate). It integrates in the Outlook/Outlook Express toolbar to flag mail "This is Spam/This is not Spam". The Norton AntiSpam folder includes a "GNU LESSER GENERAL PUBLIC LICENSE" text file.
Not sure how much affect it will have on the filtering, but it also scans outgoing mail to train the filter. Only complaint so far is that if AntiSpam flags legitimate mail as spam, it changes the subject to include [Norton AntiSpam]. It would be nice to have this removed if you mark a mail as not being spam.
I previously used McAfee's Spam Killer. But from even using Outlook XP's built-in filtering, it probably caught as much spam as Spam Killer but you don't have to manually scan your inbox to set up new rules. And McAfee's filter list updates weren't that frequent to be of much help.
