Why did WashPost's Vise buy copies of his book, then return them?. David Vise, author of "The Bureau and the Mole," bought as many as 17,000 copies of his book from Barnesandnoble.com, then returned them, reports Steven Zeitchik. He says Vise may have needed the books to sell at live events or from his Web site, but adds that "there's the cynical explanation -- that Vise was attempting to smooth his way onto the bestseller list." He stole the idea from Judging Amy! [Jim Romenesko's MediaNews]  7:04:10 PM
