Microsoft Critical Security Update Kills Microsoft Office. Last week, Microsoft released a critical security update. Those who installed it found their XP and Windows 2000 systems slowed to a crawl, to the extent that MS Office can no longer open applications and MS Exchange can no longer access the Exchange Server. Its a disaster. I was in someone's office when this happened to their Windows 2000 system. Microsoft has not yet released a fix to this enormous failure. I am glad that I am running Mac OS X.
