Layoffs of tech job workers reportedly increase dramatically with no new hiring occuring, says survey.
SAS (huge, private software firm) CEO says: "I
don't know how that trend can stop until the IT programming salaries
are globalized and there's a global salary so that it won't make any
difference where you are. That basically means that the U.S. prices for
software talent will have to slowly go down over the next ten years.
India's will have to slowly go up as more people move there or to
China, and it creates wage pressure."
It's all about wages, he says. (Story idea from Dr. Norm Matloff's newsletter). A recent survey confirms that IT pay checks are getting smaller now.
Meanwhile, Intel and HP CEOs say we need to train more Americans for non-existent jobs. Intel CEO blames - surprise! - 8th grade algebra classes. Again. Oh well.
Oh - I checked. HP, with 140,000 employees has just 13 Information
Technology job openings in the U.S. and - surprise - 16 openings at HP
India. The company has 222 job openings in all categories in India, and
just 229 in all categories in the U.S. Facts speak louder than words, Carly Fiorina!
Intel has 19 IT openings in the U.S., 7 in India and 4 in China.
Their "employee picture" on their jobs page features 3 Indian nationals.
Famous graph of warming temperatures at end of 21st century said to be due to mistake.
When the same statistical procedures are applied to a
randomized data set, they produce the same curve. Ahem.
Recent CO2 rise due to statistical anomoly. See linked story for details or also read this one. The "CO2 rose 2 ppm twice in two years claim" is not as sensational as the headlines suggest. [Edward Mitchell: Common Sense Technology]

Interesting consistency in free trade activities! [Edward Mitchell: Common Sense Technology]
