FBI's Carnivore DOA.
FBI retires Carnivore | The Register. Carnivore was an Internet era electronic snooping tool that was to enable agents to monitor Internet traffic and email. The Register learns that it has not been used in years but replaced, now, with off the shelf software. The FBI is also throwing away nearly all of a $170 million dollar information sharing software system project as a failure.
