Copyright Progress, Maybe. The U.S. Copyright Office
wants comments on
"the issues raised by 'orphan works,' i.e., copyrighted works whose owners are difficult or even impossible to locate. Concerns have been raised that the uncertainty surrounding ownership of such works might needlessly discourage subsequent creators and users from incorporating such works in new creative efforts or making such works available to the public."
This is wonderful news, and a sign of that people like Larry
Lessig are making progress in educating the powers-that-be on the issues.
Public Knowledge has a good summary. [Dan Gillmor on Grassroots Journalism, Etc.]

The Burning Retina (A LASIK Story). About 3 weeks ago, a masked man wielding a high powered laser apparatus decided to slice open my eyeballs and play around inside each of them. The result? I now have better than 20/20 vision without the assistance of glasses or contacts. Inside contains my tale... (Beware, references to demonic creatures lurk inside) [kuro5hin.org]

MUG Center launches a blog, more MUG news. Chuck Joiner, editor of the Macintosh User Group (MUG) Center Web site, announced on Monday the launch of a new blog that promises "writings, ramblings, proclamations and prognostications from the front lines of the Apple community." His first entry focuses on taking "The Art of Traveling With Your Mac" -- a session held during last month's Macworld Expo -- and turning it into a MUG Meeting topic. [MacCentral News]
