I have completed at least the first phase of my transition from OS 9 to Mac OS X. The process was not as smooth as I'd hoped, primarily because: (a) the OS 9 compatibility box was a bad way to handle the transition; (b) some things are too similarly dissimilar, causing learning curve problems and consternation Apple could easily have avoided. Still, as you can read in my initial lengthy article, I'm here to stay and generally much happier now. In a second article in what looms as a series, I pinpoint some of the main reasons I'm so much happier in OS X much sooner than I had anticipated. A third piece discusses how Apple could have made this so much easier if they had cared.
