Work Update

I found out at work today that they're not going to be hiring a new computer assistant to work with me because of budget constraints. That could be potentially good and bad for me in that it means more work, but also more justification for additional pay. It was definitely a bit of a suprise to me since just last week my supervisor said that they were moving ahead in the hiring process. I've managed to get by okay since October when my friend Dale took a new job, maybe that's part of the reason for the decision.

Tomorrow should be an interesting day in the computer technology industry. Transmeta will finally reveal what they're all about. MacWeek has a nice article with a little background on the company and the Crusoe chip they've been working on.

Ask Tog

I really enjoy Bruce Tognazzini's Ask Tog site. There's a lot of really valuable interface design information that I'd never even considered until I started reading his columns.

I wasn't able to read about his thoughts on aqua until today because his site was getting so much traffic. Unsurprisingly that page seemed to be very popular with the weblogging community the last few days.

In one of his most recent responses to reader email Tog came around to the Cam-centric opinion that sans serif fonts are indeed better for surfing. Cam's suggestion to set your browser's default font to Verdana has made a world of difference for me.
