PETA :: Media Center :: News Releases: "When a deer took out the entire front end of the car driven by two PETA anti-hunting campaigners, PETA saw red and it wasn't just the blood of the animal they believe was fleeing hunters' guns. Today, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) faxed to Bob McDowell, director of the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection's Division of Fish and Wildlife, and John Bradway, chairman of the Fish and Game Council, a notice of intent to sue them as a result of the collision late last November."

Stupid, stupid stupid. PETA is arguing that the state is negligent by allowing the size of deer herds to increase, purportedly to placate hunters who want to kill the deer. I might not be the sharpest pencil in the bunch, but I do know that one of the most humane solutions to animal overpopulation is hunting. Without hunting, or a healthy population of natural predators, a species will eventually eat themselves out of their own habitat, causing their population to crash due to famine. PETA doesn't want the deer to be hunted. They don't want them to be hit by cars, either. What exactly do they want? [Phil Ackley's Radio Thingumabob]

Phil just doesn't understand. PETA will not be happy until we humans have wiped ourselves out, and the animals can live on in a blissful happy world, free of being killed, well free from starva..um...y'know PETA has no idea what it wants. What it SEEMS they want, is to remove humans from the food chain. But, unless we split, I just don't think that's gonna happen.

I still think that they are loons, although I do owe them one.

This also inspired an article over on Deadly Bloody Serious entitled "Herd animals need anti-hunting activists like they need a hole in the head".

Denis Leary was right, we need animal auditions.

"Queen of the Damned". The late R&B star Aaliyah haunts an Anne Rice adaptation that feels like a vampire's life: It goes on forever. [Salon.com]

I find the above funny for a simple reason: I hated Queen of the Damned. The Book I mean. I call it "Queen of the Damned(Bored)". It has the distinction of being one of a very few books that I have never finished. (Actually, it's the only one I can think of, but I'm sure there's another one out there.)

I read casually at 1,200+ wpm. I don't mean I took some speed reading course that teaches you to skip words or something, I mean that's what I read at. I get up WELL beyond the above rated speed when I'm bored (yes my comprehension goes down as I speed up), and I simply could not finish QOTD. The woman (Anne Rice) needs an editor. Badly.

Interesting crap going on today, apparently it's one of those days. First Dave Winer has a rather odd request, asking people not to flame others in his name.

Then we have Tom Tomorrow finding out why a Judicial system is a good idea, and how lynchings get started. (Just kidding, Tom)

And how was my day, you ask? Don't.
