OSX Tip - Renaming Printers in Print Center
Ok, well, we just gave a presentation at a potential client featuring NetBoot and Open Directory, and what turned out to be the showstealer?
How to Rename Printers in the Print Center (And change PPD's)
1. Open the Print Center Application (/Applications/Utilities/Print Center)
2. Select the Printer you wish to change.
3. Type Cmd-I (-I) or select "Show info" from the Printers menu.
4. Select the popup and select "Name & Location".
5. Type in what you want the Printer name to be. (This does not affect the printer's actual setup at all)
Extra Credit: Change PPD
6. Click the popup and select "Printer Model"
7. Use the popup menu below that to select the PPD you desire. (Secret: If you select "Other" you can select the PPD's from Mac OS 9, for printers that don't support X yet, I've had generally good luck)
Yer Done!
